DO YOU PERFORM ANY PHYSICAL EXAMINATIONS?

No, I do not provide medical services. I offer holistic care for your pregnancy and baby.

HOW WILL HIRING YOU AFFECT MY PARTNER’S ROLE DURING THE BIRTH?

A Birth Keeper will provide knowledge to both you and your partner, what to expect during labour and how to support the mother during birth. A Birth Keeper does not replace your partner, both have different roles to play. A Birth Keeper can guide your partner in how best to support you. A Birth Keeper brings experience and offers reassurance. A Birth Keeper can offer information as things progress so that you can both make informed decisions. A Birth Keeper will hold space creating a supportive environment for all. Many find their partner is more involved with the support of a Birth Keeper.

IS A BIRTH KEEPER NECESSARY IF I HAVE HAD A BABY BEFORE?

Every birth is unique, a Birth Keeper can assist with things you may not be familiar with or if you just want to birth in a different way. Many might of had difficult first births or simply didn’t get the birth they hoped for. A Birth Keeper can help to facilitate the birth you do want and advocate for the birth you don’t want.

CAN YOU SUPPORT BREAST FEEDING?

Yes, I have done advanced peer support breastfeeding training. This will come with the postpartum package or as an additional extra.

DO BIRTH KEEPERS ATTEND HOSPITAL BIRTHS?

Yes! A Birth Keeper can support you in any location. Subject to restrictions, please check with your trust.

WILL A BIRTH KEEPER TELL ME WHAT TO DO?

No! Birth Keeper are not medically trained, we will not advise you or make decisions for you. A Birth Keeper can provide knowledge, information, experience and will signpost you if you are still struggling to make a decision. A Birth Keeper will support you in asking questions and having discussions with medical professionals and can let you know what your legal rights are. A Birth Keeper will support your decisions and choices whatever they might be.

ARE ALL DOULAS/ BIRTH KEEPERS THE SAME?

No All Birth workers have different experiences and levels of training. They are as diverse and unique as the families they support. It is important for you to feel comfortable with whoever you choose. You will know if you have found a good match for you. It’s ok to meet a few to find that connection.

WHAT ONLINE SUPPORT DO YOU PROVIDE?

I can offer most of my services online via zoom and messenger. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

I CAN’T AFFORD A BIRTH KEEPER?

I tailor my care to you. I can offer payment plans and packages. If you are on a low income I can signpost you to an access fund where you can receive free support if you qualify. I am passionate about supporting women, everyone should be able to access this type of support. Please reach out to me.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DOULA & A BIRTH KEEPER?

A Birth Keeper has more advanced training and knowledge in the natural physiology of birth.

HOW DO I TRAIN TO BECOME A DOULA MYSELF?

I have completed my Doula training with “when push comes to shove.” (use code TASHA10 for discount)

And Birth Keeper training with   “Artemis Birth Academy”.
